As part of Russia's international strategy to develop and strengthen trade, economic, social and cultural relations with the countries of the African continent, as well as build a more solid institutional foundation for Russian-African cooperation, it was decided to organize and hold the first Russia-Africa Public Forum in Moscow.
The organization of such a “Russian-African” public event will become a unique, very timely, promising and extremely important confirmation of our friendly ties and one of the resources to attract the attention of public organizations, business community, media and government institutions of Russia and Africa to a comprehensive restoration of relations in all areas of activity.
The forum’s business program will include discussion of current trends and prospects for further cooperation with African partners in such areas as public health, education, social services, ecology, investment, etc. This will represent a large step forward in declaring the building up, inter alia, business economic cooperation between Russia and Africa, and will serve as a competent positioning of the platform for discussing further high-level Russian-African events on an ongoing basis.
The idea of holding the Forum was actively supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Government of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, The Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo), the Federal Youth Agency (Rosmolodezh), the Russian Humanitarian Mission and other departments and organizations of the Russian Federation.
The Russia-Africa Public Forum will be held annually. This event will be a starting point and a part of the development of a multi-stage systematic approach to the Russia’s strategy towards the African continent and will become one of the platforms for fruitful interaction in the social, cultural, educational and public spheres between our country and African countries.
